Kiddush, Simchas and Events

Kiddush this week is being sponsored by Bill & Maureen Russman to commemorate the yahrzeits of Bill's mother, Rachel Russman, and Maureen's father, James Schumar, and in honor of Bill & Maureen's upcoming anniversary.

Thank you to Rebbetzin Prero for preparing cholent for kiddush this shabbat, as in many weeks past!

Thank you to those who help by purchasing supplies, setting up, or cleaning up for Kiddushim and Seudah Shelishit.

Thanks to evën sh'siyah, the official Jewish rock band of YIWRP, for sharing their soulful Jewish artistry and ruach at our Musical Café this past Motzaei Shabbat. Thank you to the volunteers who helped set up and staff the evening. A special thanks to Ethel Fenig, who chaired another successful community event for our Young Israel. Membership Renewal

This is the season to renew membership or to join Young Israel for the first time. When you receive your membership letter, please return it together with payment. Payments may also be arranged through PayPal.

Thank you to Membership Chair Robbin Katzin for spearheading this effort, as well as to Treasurer Ari Madoff and Administrative Assistant Shira Raider. Shiurim (classes)

Unless otherwise specified, shiurim and classes take place in the Arthur & Sally Dordek Library at Young Israel. All are welcome to participate in any of the shiurim.

  • Rabbi Prero's shiur on Rabbi Joseph Soloveitchik's sefer, Al Hateshuva, On Repentence, will not be meeting on Monday, August 14th. It will resume on August 21st at 8:15pm.

Maot Chitim of Greater Chicago Needs Your Help
Maot Chitim of Greater Chicago provides food to members of the Jewish community so that they may celebrate the Jewish holidays with dignity. We are getting ready for our 2017 Rosh Hashanah Delivery. We invite you to join us!

Save the Dates:
We will be packing the non-perishable items on Sunday, September 10th.
Our delivery will take place on Sunday, September 17th.
We need volunteers for both dates. Our warehouse location will be announced soon. Please check the Maot Chitim website for updates as we get closer to the holiday.

Calling all incoming ILLINOIS freshman and transfer students! Do you know someone who will be starting at an Illinois college or university in the fall or someone who will be transferring? We would love to welcome them warmly when they arrive. Please send the name of your new student to University of Illinois Hillel's Engagement Director, Mike Schreiber, Michaels@illinihillel.org. He will pass any student's name to the appropriate Hillel - in Illinois or out. We look forward to our new students' arrivals!

There is an AA meeting at YIWRP every Tuesday from 7:30-8:30pm. it is a beginners meeting and open to those interested in recovering from alcholism.
